Review: I got this book (A Hedonist's Guide to Tallinn), 24 Hours in the City and Footprint Tallinn and this was the pick for those seeking out the best that Tallinn has to offer. This is "hedonist" as a pursuer of pleasure rather than a consumer of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll and it does what it says on the tin (although it points you in the direction of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll as well if that's what you're after). It doesn't have the background info, getting around etc that Lonely Planet or Rough Guide does which is fine if you're just going for a weekend and want to make the most of your time there. The book includes loads of great stuff on the best/most interesting bars, restaurants, clubs, hotels, tourist sights, etc including pretty good "Top 10" or "Top 5" lists, and the venues are helpfully numbered and mapped. There's more listed than you could hope to do in a weekend (and I tried) but the book's descriptions of the places I went to were very accurate. |
