Review: I opted for this Alba DVD65 Multi Region slimline DVD player because it had separate stereo outputs (as well as SCART)and I wanted to feed the sound through my amplifier. It's a feature not so common with players under £40.
Picture and sound quality are fine and compatability is great, all the DVD-/+Rs that I have tried have played, including Slide Shows and extended play DVD discs burned by NERO. It's also impressively small, slim and quite cool looking.One big annoyance! when you zoom the picture (as you will want to if the movie is in cini-scope or if you have a square TV), the zoom display remains on screen, so you're left with the choice of watching a letter box shaped picture, or sitting through a movie with "zoom x2" written in the centre of the screen.
This completely lets the player down as in every other respect it's a good buy at the price. |
