Review: This is a disappointing remake which lacks class and karisma. It is predictable and supported by weak dialogue making the film boring and hard to remain focused. Jude Law's performance does not seem that convincing, nor does he seem the right person for the job. Alfie is meant to be a person with flare who is ultimately a player; however, Jude Law is more of a looker and it seems to be his looks which get him the girls whereas in the original it was his personality and flare and all round karisma. The ending is poor in the sense that it doesn't really tie up loose ends, he just realises what his problem is. Ultimately, the film never seems to be going anywhere and is only worth watching if you like any of the cast. The film needed to reflect moreso on the orignal. |
