Review: Having previously owned the iRiver HP120 MP3 player, my partner pursuaded me to upgrade to the Apple iPod Photo 30GB MP3 player. What can i say? On the plus side the iPod looks very stylish, has lots of optional accessories. It is very easy to use to upload music and pictures. You can also use it as a hard drive to store more or less any files which can be tranferred to other computers!! If you store photos as a file they cannot be viewed on the Ipod. Only photos transfered through iTunes can be viewed on the iPod Photo. Also you cannot keep adding photos as it deletes those in the system when it is updated!! So whats the point of the photo option?!!! The MP3 player part of the device is excellent and more or less on par with I-river except for the following....the down side is you are limited to the 'home' computer. As we own a lap-top each, I have a PC and my partner has a iMac, this limits us from tranferring both music and photos between computers. The iPod recognises the home computer and updates every time it is connected. You can manually transfer files from any computer TO the iPod but you cannot transfer then onto another computer. We have also a small travel speaker (which is not that loud but fine for holidays), an fm transmitter(which enables you to use the ipod with your car radio.... very good), a speaker dock (which is great for in the house) again very good quality. One ommission on the Ipod is a NO TUNER!!! Come on guys at APPLE.... catch up with what I-river have to offer!!! |
