Review: We're not like some families who change their vacuum cleaner every couple of years but eventually, our old cylinder vacuum cleaner went pop and a dissection of the motor bits revealed a terminal case. My wife spent quite a bit of time researching the web and came up with this Bosch BUC11700 1700w upright vacuum cleaner. They were out of stock everywhere as Bosch had been caught unawares when Which gave this model one of their coveted awards. Eventually we got one on special offer through EmpireDirect.co.uk.
The first vac arrived but unfortunately developed a fault within a couple of weeks. Unlike most vacuum cleaners I\\\'ve seen, the brush roller is driven by a separate motor. If the brush jams on something, the motor is supposed to cut out but if this doesn\\\'t happen quickly enough, then the motor keeps trying to rotate the brush and the teeth on the rubber drive belt disintegrate. When I realised what had had happened, I worried that this was a design problem and contacted EmpireDirect to see if they\\\'d had many problems with this but they said no.
One year on and the replacement vac has been no trouble.
The vac itself sucks well but you need to keep it clean. The tools that came with it aren\\\'t that great - a narrow pipe and a folding right angle piece. I ended up keeping some of the ones off the old sanyo cylinder which seem to fit onto the Bosch.
The cleaner vacs well up to the edges and copes well with the dog hairs from our pet dog each time it moults.
For nooks and crannies, the front pipe unclips and has a limited extension.
Overall I\'ve been pleased with the Bosch BUC11700 upright vacuum cleaner and would recommend it. |
