Review: Brassed Off is one of those films that seem to come from nowhere to make a huge impact. For lovers of brass bands the attraction is obvious but there is much more to it. The acting is excellent from all concerned, particularly the characters of the fighting miners wives. The film is funny, sad, uplifting all at the same time with excellent 'one liners', you will never forget 'Mr. Chuckles' and the plate throwing scene, or the band playing outside the hospital at night. I am not a particular fan of brass band music but hearing it in the context of the film made it come to life, and I would defy any one not to be moved by the scenes at the Royal Albert Hall. All in all an excellent film that you will watch again and again. |
