Review: Alastair Sawday has a finely tuned sense of what lifts a hotel out of the mundane or functional into a special experience. He treasures individual enterprises that strive to offer the best possible accommodation, food and drink in exceptional surroundings. No branded chains are found here! All the usual practical information is laid out in a straightforward format, but it's the eye for the unusual and the quirky that makes this book so useful for the traveller who wants more than just a bed for the night.
