Review: This Canon IXUS 55 is now my 3rd Canon compact digital camera, and I do not regret upgrading to the Ixus 55 from my previous camera the Ixus 40. The picture quality is very good considering the size of the camera - it may not be up to scratch for professional photographers, but for us mere mortals who just want to take good pics - you wont be disappointed. I've had several other brands of compact digital cameras, in between my Canon ownership, such as Casio, Panasonic, and Fuji, but I always tend to end up going back to Canon, as the easy of use, build quality and more importantly the picture quality cant be faulted. I've paired my camera with a 2Gb SD card - and it's a very good match. I can take about 400 pics at 5 megapixels, and still have room for about 8-10 mins of video. With no video recording, how does 760ish 5 megapixel pictures at the highest resolution and quality sound? Can't be bad! This camera, the Digital Ixus 55 is good because of: picture quality the large 2.5" screen very responsive - quick to startup and capture pictures fast burst mode - 2.5 frames per second easy to use - easy menus My only gripe is with the actual picture quality on the 2.5" screen, which could be better - it needs to have a higher resolution. Also the colours on the screen don't seem to be quite right, but once you print the picture or display it on a PC it all looks fine. Overall, a fantastic camera. |
