Review: Being a previous V2 owner, the Canon Ixus V3 digital camera is a great leap forward, the addition of movie mode is a lot of fun. Movie mode does not support zooming (optical or digital), highest resolution is a bit jerky (15fps). Effects cannot be used. Sound is a bit tinny. medium resolution is slightly blocky when played back on the big screen Still pictures very good, huge range of manual options although the built in effects don't all make a noticeable difference apart from Sepia. Software. Software pack much improved over 2, Zxbrowser new version has a much better interface and response. download times on USB1.1 even the movies are good. Better picture manipulation software. Why does it not come with a camera bag though? The APS IXUS does. Compact flash type I only, which means IBM 1GB diskdrive wont fit. You need big CF cards to get the best out of this. 256mb and up, otherwise lots of messing around swapping cards, movies take up considerable space. Higher resolution pictures of course also take up more space. And you always wish the zoom and macro ranges were greater. but its so smalll hand portable and its such a joy to use that you forgive its limitations thats my tuppence worth... |
