Review: Having wrestled endlessly with a shoddy and pig-stubborn Epson printer for the past three years I was actually glad when the damn thing suddenly died a couple of weeks ago and I had an excuse to replace it - with anything! Anything at all! The Pixma iP1500 gets some mixed reviews across the web, some have praised it, some have totally slagged it off, but it's a very decently priced printer (and so are the ink cartridges - very importantly!) so I decided to buy one. I only do a bit of text printing, a dozen or so photos and some basic maps in the average month, so didn't want anything heavy-duty. If it printed without giving an error message every other time I used it (as my old Epson did) then I'd be quite happy. And imagine my surprise to find that this is a fantastic little printer. It prints perfectly acceptable A4 photos - and prints them right up to the very edge of the paper - in about two minutes. Unbelievable! It will put out a full page of black text in significantly less than 10 seconds, and a colour map in less than 20. Installation was a doddle, delivery was quick, performance is great - I'm far more pleased than I ever expected to be with this printer and with Amazon. |
