Review: I bought the Canon PowerShot G5 digital camera to replace my Fujifilm 2800Z six weeks ago. It offers a far greater choice of user control, as well as the 5MP resolution, which is sufficient for quite large enlargements or cropping. The lens is very fast, offering a maximum aperture of F2, and a wide zoom range. One of the reasons I chose the Canon is the ability to fit auxiliary lenses, so makng the maximum wide angle around a 24mm equivalent. On a £1500 SLR digital camera, one would have to pay over £800 to yield such a focal length. The accompanying software is intuitive to use and very complete. My only reservation is that, like all cameras using LCD displays, bright sunlight can make viewing problematic, so make sure you also buy a bellows shade for the LCD. Overall, I would heartily reccomend the Canon G5, especially for experienced photographers. |
