Review: Bought this Canon Powershot A70 digital camera yesteday - my first ever digital camera. Was going to buy one of the Kodak Easyshares until saw all the great reviews of the A70 I know it's early doors, but I'm extremely impressed with this camera. Like everyone, as soon as I had it out of the box I wanted to take my first photo, so just switched it to auto and got a great shot! Messed around with the settings (apeture, ISO, shutter speed etc), but you will only get good results from these if you know what you are doing. Auto is acceptable for the general enthusiast like me, and will play around with the features when I've had a little more practise. I was told that the supplied batteries would only last a few minutes as they are alkaline, but they've given me an hour so far! Love the stich feature, although taking the photos for this seems to leave me with bits at the top and bottom missing - must be me! Menus are easy to use, and zoom feature will tell you when you've gone past te optical zoom limit and are into digital zoom (image does deteriorate a little when digital zoom is used, but that happens on most cameras.) Image quality to my untrained eye is excellent. I only have an old Epson 760 printer, but the prints on Kodak and Epson (Kodak seems better though) Photo paper is very impressive. All in all, a bargain for this price, with many features that you would struggle to find at this price and would probably pay another 100 pounds for. Brilliant. Problems Slight scratch on the LCD screen - many people seem to have this problem - be careful. Lines on lcd when zooming - no effect on final image though. These are MINOR niggles. The camera is superb. |
