Review: This Casio Exilim Card EX S100 digital camera is fantastic for slipping in your bag or pocket, and has a fantastically fast start-up time. On bright sunny days outdoors, this camera takes suberb pictures, and I have been very impressed. When taking pictures indoors be prepared for a mixed bag of pictures, some of which are excellent and others come out very dark and grainy. In saying that if you are more of a night owl who wants a camera to take along to pubs, clubs, partys and general nightlife, then ***** buy a different camera*****. Now if your looking for a tiny light weight and robust little camera, to be used mainly for daytime shots, and can be hidden away nicely when not being used, and be able to take pictures discreetly, instead of advertising the fact that your a tourist etc... etc...or if you want to take contempory pictures of every day life....maybe pictures of street life in your home town... shop fronts or even rubbish overflowing from a bin in your local park, this camera will be discreet enough so you won't stand out as a bit of a looney. Another excellent feature of this camera is the ability to take exceptional movies, (100% better than my fuji, which was alot more expensive) The camera also comes with a usb cradle which is also the recharger, although the camera does not recharge by means of the usb, the cradle just plugs into the mains and charges that way, so you can jump from usb to recharging at the touch of a button. If you are going away on holiday you would just need the cradle with the mains plug, (usb would not be needed) these items are also compact, so no worries about luggage space. I purchaced a 1 gb sandisk SD card, and I can take around 550 fine quality pictures. To sum up, this camera is Great for: daytime snaps: days out, holidays, being small enough to always have on you, so its perfect for those unexpected moments when you want to capture something on film. It has brilliant unlimited length movies (dependant on memory card space left) It is capable of taking really nice close-up shots using macro. Not very good for: night time shots, or indoor shots if room is a bit dim, it can be grainy in shady areas. Flash recharge is a little slow at times. Don't even consider using the digital zoom, you can completely turn this feature off in the menu. LCD although large can be almost impossible to see if the sun is behind you. All in all this camera is perfect for my life style ( children, pets, holidays, picnic's) and expectations, but it might not be for you. Just one more thing to add, I did not buy my camera online, I went to lots of stores and looked, held and compared this camera with many others, and this camera shone in terms of quality build and craftmanship, so many others (that looked slim and sleek online) were bulky looking, or were made from flimsy plastic. |
