Review: The idea of a pocket size camera which can take loads of low res photos is a great concept and all for £40 - wow. Well that is what I thought before ordering this camera. Digital Dream L'Espion cannot seem to produce a camera that works. The first one sent to me never worked, I even tried other batteries than those supplied - still it never came to life. I exchanged this for another in the vain hope that it would be OK. To begine with the second worked well enough, but after a week it too stopped and never recovered. It was only thanks to Amazon's return ploicy that I was able to get my money back. As the second camera did work for a few days I can comment that the picture quality was great in good lighting, but indoor shot with artificial light were very difficult to get right. The camera takes a variable length exposure based on the light level. The darker the subject the longer the shot. So unless you have rock steady hands you need to put the camera on a table or tripod to take indoor photos. Also even outdoor shots on an overcast day can be quite slow - so you need to hold the camera steady for a good second afterwards for a clear shot. Overall then reliability seems too poor to consider, I won't be buying any other cameras from this manufacturer either, but if it did work for any length of time then the quality was fine for the kind of market it is aimed at. If you are considering buying this sort of camera then I heartly recommend you getting something like this camera - but probably not this particular make or model. |
