Review: Although the first time I saw Doctor Strangelove I was slightly disappointed, after watching it a few more times I began to appreciate it's genius. While certainy not a laugh-a-minuite film, except for the last 10 minutes, it is funny thoughout and expertly highlights the absurd paranoia of post-war America. Althogh Peter Sellers is the star of the film, and his Dr. Strangelove was one of his finest ever characters, my favorite character is easily General Buck Turgidson. His efforts to hide all the the top secret documents while wailing 'he'll see the big board' are one of the many classic moments in it. All in all, a top class film and well worth inclusion into any video collection. |
