Review: Yeah, Doctor Who-The Movie had loads of stuff wrong with it. Everyone's gone on about that enough. McGann's Doctor could have been interesting given some more exposure - he's still in his McCoy body or an amnesiac for over half of the film. Surely starting off with an eighth Doctor up and running would have been better? We could always have flashed back to the regeneration in a TV episode, had the pilot been picked up by the US networks. The other bane of this video is the butchery exacted on it in an effort to get a 12 rating. It has to be said, I've seen more violent TV stories on the PG rating (Resurrection of the Daleks, anyone?) If you caught the uncut version on Doctor Who night in 1999, with the additional one minute and six seconds, you would know it makes a lot more sense, especially around the time of the Doc's regeneration. Now it's been shown on TV, a release of the complete movie is a must. |
