Review: This Ellion DVR-535S is my first dvd recorder so I have nothing to compare it to. I wanted to buy a Sony RDRHX510S but it cost around £300, so I decided to give it a try to cheaper one. The design is not bad but somehow looks cheap.. I'm not very keen on the plastic front panel but the unit is very slim and that's a plus comparing to other thick players that I've seen. I didn't find the manual very helpful.. sometimes you have to figure out things yourself. There are two e-mail addresses on the guarantee card, I e-mailed both with a simple question and they never got back to me, that's a minus for customer service. The player is rather noisy and slow, the menu is not very clear either, sometimes you can't get out of the menu without having to press play, for instance when I'm editing a title, it won't let me get out without editing it or playing it , very annoying. Also it would be good to have a recording source as default rather than search for the one you want everytime you turn on the machine. The picture quality I have no complaint so far, also it can be turned into multiregion I'm giving 4 stars because of the price and the picture quality. The Ellion DVR-535S dvd recorder is not perfect but for the price you can't ask for more I suppose. |
