Review: From the moment you first hear the 'To Zanarkand' music track playing, its hard nt to realise that you will enjoy this game. Featuring amazing graphics down from the characters to the fabulous Full Motion Video sequence, this game is one that can grip you right until the end. The battle sequence has taken a turn form the usual Active Time Battle mode to a turn based system which makes the battles slightly more strategic due to having to work out what to do at certain times. The addition to occasional phrases during fights also brings a welcome distraction, however the fact that spell chants are only used once is disappointing, one of my fondest memories of the game being when Lulu shouts 'Just like icing on a cake'. The Overdrives were a very good combination of Trance and previous Limit Break techniques to create a powerful outcome, but only when you want to use it. The characters are all used to a great extent allowing the gamer to feel part of the storyline, however, like most Final Fantasy games, they are all different, no two characters have the same personality, except if you (like some people) think that Tidus is a cross between Yuna and Rikku, only male. Each character has their own function of spells in battle, develop different stats individually and can eventually start to cross over into another character's grid. The music in the game has been fantastically exploited to maximise the atmosphere. From simple, catchy tunes (Hymn of the Fayth for example) that can be repeated within the game, to extraordinarily complicated one-off musics (Attack!), the music has an affect on how you feel the game. As an example, Path of Repentance, used in the Via Purifico helps to make the whole scene extremely more depressing and adds a feeling of urgency to the control of Yuna. The Blitzball mini-game is at first confusing, however is a great idea once you get used to it, and eventually has a use later in the game, if you like to get all of the secrets. As an overall judgment, get it, or you will regret it!
