Review: I've had my F10 for a week and so far I'm very pleased with it. This is my 4th Fuji camera and, apart from the fact that the last one has broken after 2 years, I've been very pleased with them all. The F10 has improved on the other models that I've owned (F401,F410 & F420) the picture quality is excellent, particularly the low light ability, I've taken quite a few evening shots which would normally need a flash but the F10 copes without and produces a better picture for it; when you do need flash its capable of taking pictures at a greater range than the previous models. The start up time and shutter delay are particularly short for a digital compact, in fact they are about equivalent to my friends £2000 Nikon SLR. Battery life is great, I've been playing with it (the camera) all week and it's still showing full charge. The only down sides, and the reasons I've knocked a star off, are the menu system is slightly less intuitive than my previous models and it could have been given a more stylish look (it can't be any more difficult to design a nice looking camera over a plain one surely!) Personally I would have prefered the camera to be the same size as the F420 but it's only a little bit bigger and it still fits in my pocket and at the end of the day you can't have everythibg and size isn't that important.....well ok maybe it is but this camera is still very compact. The Fuji web-site says that the V10 will be released in a couple of months, it's a bit smaller and with better styling but it's not quite as capable as the F10, still ISO1600 but no IR autofocus assistance, 5Mp and a less powerful battery. It's a pity Fuji couldn't combine the 2 but overall, if the look of the camera isn't too important to you, then I think the F10 is the best for ability and value on the market, no-one else is even close at the moment. |
