Review: The features promised by this Fusion DigiFusion FRT101 are good enough and the 30 sec rewind feature is a nice bonus. However, this box has given us nothing but problems. At first we assumed had a faulty box but the replacement has exactly the same problems. Customer service regards these problems as part of the design and not faults with their units. Firstly, the box has a habit of freezing and locking up so that it is unresponsive to any controls including those on the box itself. This happens with some regularity and the only solution is to unplug/replug the box. There is no external switch so this becomes awkward where other equipment is installed. The company claims this problem is caused by signal fluctuations but this is still no excuse since the hardware and software should NOT lock up completely. Also, there is an update which occurs to both the software and programme guide which happens around 3.00am every morning. This feature interrupts transmission, typically for around 15 mins but could be up to an hour. These features CANNOT be disabled by the user unless present several seconds before they activate so any unattended video recordings made during this period will be interrupted. The box will also switch off after these updates automatically so the rest of the recording will be lost.
The remote control layout is also non-intuitive. I cannot recommend highly enough that you look for a suitable alternative if in the market for a Freeview decoder. |
