Review: The purchase of this Fusion DigiFusion FVRT100 digital video recorder has resulted a catalogue of problems, hassle and disappointments. Since purchasing the recorder in Nov 04 I have had repeated and different technical problems resulting in the dealer having to replace the player three times, but still have ended up with a product that fails to deliver.

The first machine barely lasted a month as it completely froze and responded to neither the remote or the machine’s own buttons. Digifusion’s support told me the machine was not repairable and would have to be replaced.

The replacement performed reasonably for a while but eventually deteriorated and began to slow to the extent that any function, like asking the machine to play, would take minutes to be achieved.

I contacted the Digifusion’s support who once again said the player would have to be replaced.

I have recently received my third new player and am horrified to report this latest machine has proved to be faulty from the start. The recorder freezes up shortly after powering up and just doesn’t work at all!

Even during any period the recorder worked it still caused problems. I had twice had around thirty hours of recordings wiped from my hard disc. Digifusion admitted to a software fault and suggested I only record on short play, as any long play recordings could be wiped.

As well as the hassle with the faulty players I also had three months with no player at all, waiting for replacements to arrive. The Digifusion support service has generally been helpful, but I also I have encountered rudeness, with staff who were more interested in getting me of the phone than finding a solution to my complaints.

For me the Digifusion DVTR100 recorder has proved to be a nightmare and a complete waste of money.
