Review: Nintendo have created many consoles, including SNES, N64, GC, and the GameBoys. But what made the GBA so popular? Well its obvious. 32 bit graphics(same quality as a PS1), backwards compatibility with 97% of all previous GB and GBC titles, a huge selection of games, 15 hours of play from 2 AA batteries, etc.
I could go on and on about how the GBA changed the world of handheld gaming, because it was phenominal with huge sales all over the world. But then came the GBA SP. Standing for Special Project, the SP was made to solve all of the originals problems, such as a dark screen, it wanted to change the battery situation, etc. The GBA SP features (finally) a backlight to play in any lighting condition. If you're outside on a dark day at 2pm, the light wont make any difference. To get the most out of the light, use it when you are inside. A button near the hinge of the SP switches the light on and off. The light isn't as good as getting a nice blast of sunlight on your screen to see perfectly, but it does a good job and doesnt drain the picture quality.
The new laptop design features a flip up screen. The SP looks so good when its closed, and the new design prevents the screen from getting damaged. The downfall of the SP though is that the paint on it gets scratched rather easily. Mine has several scratches on it and I look after mine pretty well. The screen is exactly the same as the GBA, so nothing new here.
The new lithium-ion battery saves you buying loads of batteries, all you do is plug your GBA SP into the cable provided, plug the other end into a socket and it takes about 3 hours to charge of 18 hours of play, and 10 hours of play with the light on.
No new games here, theres no such thing as a game only for SP' so dont get so excited about new games.

Put it this way. If you're getting an SP, sell you original. There is no point having both.
