Review: I bought this Goodmans GBD5 set Top box basically for three reasons:
1. fed up with my old Nokia On-Digital box crashing all the time
2. I was considering buying a DAB tuner for my hifi
3. this has to be the most cost effective way of achieving both the above.And I have to say I'm delighted with the purchase. Setting up is a breeze, you really do just plug it in and switch it on, it does all the rest. The remote is well functioned and laid out, picture quality is very good (compared to the old Nokia box anyway). The phonos on the back plug straight into the hifi aux so you have instant DAB reception which is great. Dual scarts make TV and VCR linkup simple. When you consider what a DAB tuner or stand-alone radio costs (£100 plus), to get Freeview and DAB in a single little box for £70 is incredible. The Amazon price is also the best, a Kelkoo search lists the next nearest stockist price for the same unit as £90+p&p, and although the Amazon page says 1 to 2 weeks delivery, this arrived in 4 days (even using the free delivery option). A great buy. |
