Review: Halo is as close to pure gaming perfection as is possible. It's a true labour of love; every positive aspect of FPS games which could've been taken into account has been thought of. Perfection was the aim during the 3-year development period and the game displays it effortlessly. The XBox pad plays the game extremely quickly & accurately and (now this will be controvercial) the game is possibly better and more groundbreaking than Goldeneye. It's even more fun in multiplayer, especially with a link cable and 7 other friends to play with (or even 15, it's possible!) where the gaming gets frantic, tactical and downright dirty. Once you've gotten used to the controls it is a clear masterpiece; the graphics constantly astound (Frozen reflecting waterfalls anyone? Individual blades of grass? Driving though an exploding spaceship?) and they put the PS2 to deep shame. The enemies are clever and original; some run away from you, screaming; some explode like popcorn into smaller monsters when close; some throw and dodge grenades - everything has been thought of. There is so much variety and imagination, it's hard to stop singing it's praises. Buy an XBox for this. Buy three more pads so you can trounce your friends (smacking them in the face with a shotgun is always fun!)...Please, do the right thing, sell your boring PS2 and get this! |
