Review: The Intempo PG-01 DAB digital radio looks really good and is incredibly easy to set up, with the set automatically tuning in all available stations when you first plug it in. Sound quality is great - no hiss whatsoever, however I can't say it is particularly better than a good FM signal. The best thing is having new radio stations - I am loving BBC Radio 6 and 7 and Worldwide. The scrolling text is also cool and tells you what song is playing, what show you are listening to now and next, depending on the station. The only drawbacks are: - Only 4 presets (not 8 as stated in the description - although I think you can store 4 FM stations as well but why would you want to when all the best stations and more are in DAB). - No battery power option - I like the radio so much I would like to drag it round the house with me, listen in the bath, garden, etc! - Now I know I like the extra stations and DAB format, I wish I'd gone for one of the more expensive models like the "Bug" radio, that has storage facilities to record and replay programmes. Other than those minor quibbles I am extremely pleased with this. An ideal and well priced introduction to DAB. |
