Review: The Iomega firewire external hard drive itself is reasonably chunky and the power adaptor is also large (more than twice the size of an Apple laptop power adaptor). So if this isn't just for backup and you want to carry it around you might be better with something else.

It works reasonably for me on a G3 ibook under OSX with USB 1.1 (slowly) or firewire. Under linux on the same machine I can only get the USB to work reliably --- perhaps due to poor configuration of firewire on my part.
