Review: Killzone will be the sony PlayStation 2 game of the year. I just wanted to add all the concrete info released so far about this game(things that was rumoured that has proven false is the use of Nurbs in the graphics and that the Helghast are aliens. They are human just like you and me. This is a realistic view upon military action 100 years in the future.) Here's the facts:Name: Killzone. Sloagen: War is coming Origin: Europe, Netherlands. Developer: Guerilla. Publisher: SCEE/SCEA. Release date: Q4 2004. Players: 1-2 player offline, 12 players online with voice(broadband only). Graphics: Flexible multi texture engine that can put upto 32 "pieces" of textures upon each other to create a realisitc effect. Sound: Orchestral music(reminds heavily of Medal of honor), two yet unknown world celebrities will voice two of the main characters(alongside letting the characters use their looks). Gameplay: 25 weapons(5-6 of these will be turrets of different sorts. All hand weapons will have dual functions + melee function which you can work combos with), 26 levels(+ multiplayer levels) set in 11 different enviroment types, 4 different characters with different skills and play mechanics to choose from, bots available in multiplayer(offline or online not confirmed). Note: Lots of cool touches aren't mentioned here. Premise: Killzone takes place in the near-future and is set against the backdrop of a planetary war between the planet-colonizing ISA and a separatist military faction known as the Helghast. The game opens on a planetary colony known as Vecta, where you'll start by escorting a high-ranking ISA official on his way to an evacuation point. You are a small part of an epic war. Note: The levels and enviroments(overall design and story really) are heavily influenced by famous fights from WWI, WW2 and the Vietnam war. This game will be the PS2 game of the year. There are some heavy competition with Silent Hill 4, MGS3 and whatnot but this is really the first truly astounding fps for the console so it will take the prize. |
