Review: I've had my Lite-on 5045 DVD recorder for a few weeks now and I've had no real issues with it. Personally I found it quite easy to set up. I'm aware that some users have frustrations with this machine, but I haven't. I have to say that I like it. It's user interface could be slicker but it's easy enough to understand and it does the business. The fact that it plays, and records to so many formats is what attracted me (and the price!). Firmware updates are easy to install and it does so much more that a VCR. I could suggest things which could be improved but at for under £300 with a 160Gb HDD, that would be unfair I think. Some of the features I really like are: - 100+ hours recording time on the HDD and it's good quality. - Easy to back-up favourite recordings onto cheap DVD disks. - Can copy TV etc. onto rewriteable DVDs to playback on another DVD player or computer. - Can program a recording time and set a repeat for as many weeks as you need. Set it once and get a whole series! - Edit recordings to lose dead space at the start and finish, or remove the ads. The 'bigger' brand HDD DVD recorders don't seem to have the features and/or cost substantually more. If the odd little rough edge dosen't unduly bother you, the LiteOn LVW-5045 is quite okay. |
