Review: This LiteOn LVW-5002B was my first DVD recorder and I had my doubts. Low price and a name I'd never heard of, but I was reluctant to buy a more advanced HD machine until the market (hopefully) settles down a bit. Connecting it was much the same as a VCR. Setup was more of a learning curve but achieved OK with the help of the instruction book. It comes with a list of recomended disc makes and of course the ones I'd ordered for it were not on the list. I had problems with the machine failing to read them after recording. Bought some Memorex discs on the list and they work fine and also play back on my computer DVD player. Quality is much better than video tape. There is plenty of connectivity and I've recorded easily from my VCR as well as TV and satellite. The disc problem might have been solved by a firmware update but currently the download is not available on the website. LiteOn assure me they are on the case. There was no warrany card or UK service address with the machine (there is a Netherlands phone number and email address). At the price, if it works OK when you get it then I'd say it is worth the gamble. My VCR has been retired but not disposed of!
