Review: Must say that the LiteOn LVW-5005 dual format DVD recorder still suprised me after testing it even though I had read loads of reviews about this machine.
I'm not realy bothered that it can do + and - on R or RW discs but it surely is a plus.

What I really find very useful is the fact that the European version has two scart plugs.
Recoding VideoCDs is fantastic, OK even though it cannot be comparred to DVD quality. You can always record something where the picture quality is not very important.
Super VideoCD is very good when compared with the VideoCD mode. The only draw back is that many PCs require special software to play them and no many DVD players support that mode.

Another good thing is that you can download unofficial firmware onto the machine giving you an extra record option LP for 3 hours. Further than that you can have the player region free enabled.

Negative:
player is always sending a signal to the telly via scart lead making the TV set switch to the player scrat even though it's switched off!!!
Player is always sending widescreen signal even though some DVDs might be recorded using the 4:3 norm. this makes the telly think that a widescreen picture is being sent and all gets streched. Very negative this point!!!
