Review: Although i have been using the Internet in some form since 1992, i have resisted a mobile phone with internet capability access built-in. I have upgraded to this mobile from a 'Nokia 3410' with a failing battery, so perhaps i am easier to please than someone who has bought a mobile phone with '3G' capability. This mobile phone is noticably thinner than my other 'phone. This can be due to it not having a camera. I am finding that when pressing some keys, they require more pressure than the others. The screen is a joy. The colours on this are vibrant and the images are beautifully detailed. However, when out in the blazing sun, the stark display of the '3410' ia much easier to read! The sound is polyphonic mono and sounds pleasant, but the built-in alternatives to the ringing tone are naff. You can probably download better ones i guess. The numbers of the people you wish to contact are better arranged than in the '3410'. Instead of different names for the different methods to contact same people, each contact name has their own screen listing each contact number, Fax, Mobile, Internet etc. The overall structure of the folders for the functions which control the 'mobile phone is very similar to the '3410'. If you have experience with a 'Nokia' phone, it does not generally take too long to find the options. There are two built-in methods to use the 'phone, Infrared and Gps. The latter is used to access websites which have been interpreted for mobile usage. The bbc news website is excellent, i wish others were as good. I really wanted to send an 'e-mail' using this cellphone, but wasted £5 in sending them without setting the unit up properly. I looked on the 'O2' website and followed the insructions. I gave up ringing 'O2' technical support as it was always an too long wait. I received a message explaining would take 2 days to set up a 'o2' e-mail account! I have successfully used an 'AOL mobile' + 'Yahoo'e-mail account, (set up before-hand), to send email. It really does work, though it takes time to type it in. Although, it is multimedia capable, it does not have a camera. I think the ergonomics of the phone are very good. It has a superb screen, and has an e-mail capability. The battery life of this is miles better than the '3410'. All in all, its a capable product and i would recommend this to others. |
