Review: It's one thing buying a flashy new phone. It's a different story living with it and getting to know it. The point I am trying to make is that after one year, I feel very different about my 7650 than when I bought it. Let me tell you what the sales people "forgot" to tell me: The phone is SLOW. Opening a menu is SLOW. Opening your address book is SLOW. Taking a picture is SLOW... You get the idea. Forget the "Video camera". You get to record 30 seconds of useless picture quality. Same with the sound recorder, although you get to record a whole minute. Wow. The camera is useless because it is super slow and the image quality is simply not worth much. Plus the phone is bulky and heavy, and there is not much in the way of battery life. But this all seems like technical brilliance when you see the software that comes with this phone. (Please do not attempt to install the software if you intend using it. Only install if you have lots and lots of patience and equal amounts of good humour). But: that is only one side of the story. Here is the good bit: it can take pictures! And it can record video (provided you download the video programme from the internet). It can record sound clips and it has games. Plus, it can be used as a weapon in self defence scenarios. It is also quite expensive, so you won't see every second person running around with one. The verdict (after one year): My sister bought the much cheaper 7250. I really envy her. Now THERE's a great little (convenient, versatile, feature-rich, sexy, you get the idea) phone! I gave the phone three stars because it is a mobile, and mobiles are good. In a way. |
