Review: Oliver is one of those musicals that has grown on me over the years. It is definitely dark (well, what do you expect from Dickens), but it has some fantastic songs and a strong story line. Some of the characters just irritate me on this - the singing voice of Oliver for example. Like I said, the more I see it the more I enjoy it, but there is just soemthing ... and although I said it was a dark story above, I feel that this version really highlights those dark aspects, which I don't like. This is not a fundamental flaw in the film, just personal preference. Overall though, it is a good movie, and definitely worth a look if you have never seen it before, a revisit if you have |
