Review: The Olympus Camedia C-220 Zoom digital camera looks and feels more expensive than it is. The design is a few years old and is an outgoing model, however, it doesn't look at all dated, and the specification is more than enough for the average snapper. A 16mb SmartMedia card is supplied, which on the lowest resolution can store around 90 pictures, and larger cards are easily available. I've read some reviews that state you cannot get an instant image of the photo you've just taken and you have to shut down and go to the photo album. This isn't true, a simple double click of the monitor button displays your photo, so you can see if it turned out ok straight away. This camera can also record short video clips using Quicktime, although theres no sound, this is a fun extra feature. The quality of images I have taken so far have been superb, and the camera works perfectly on Mac OSX even without installing the software CD. The only mild annoyance with this camera is the way the flash pops up, its a mechanical movement which feels a bit cheap, and theres no way to keep the flash hidden away when the lens cover is open. But hey, at under ?70 this is a great buy! |
