Review: I bought one of these Philips DVDR3305/05 DVD recorders and have had a variety of reliability problems with it - recording problems, not being able to access all menu functions, not being able to access disc menus.

When it works, I have no problems with it. It is my first DVD recorder and I was expecting a better picture quality on programs recorded from the TV, but it is still better than my VCR.

And it is not me - i notice the reviews here are divided into people who have problems, and people who don't and rather curiously blame the operators rather than the machine.

Strangely, I do know how to read and press buttons on the remote, and if the DVD player is not doing something it was doing yesterday, then I blame the machine, not me. If you have one of these and it works, then you are lucky. I would definitely not recommend one of these machines, or from now on, anything by Philips.
