Review: I was initially concerned about the reported timer bug on the Philips DVDR610 multi-region capable DVD recorder but a patch in December seems to have fixed it, I've had no problems in the 2 weeks I've used it. The browser is very easy to use, even for basic editing of recorded video. My only bugbear is that the remote doesn't have an eject button, but since you have to go to the machine to take the disk out I guess its not critical. Its also a pity that the buttons on the front (including eject!) are very vague and don't offer any positive feedback like a click. Otherwise recordings have been good, I leave it on 3 hour mode most of the time but 4 hours is like long play VHS, watchable but noticably inferior. The top two settings are very good indeed, it needs something better than my TV to separate them. |
