Review: I bought this Philips DVDR70 multi-region capable DVD recorder in May, but have delayed putting a review on because I did see some people have had probelms. Well I am glad to report that after 7 months of ownership, nothing has gone wrong.

Recording quality is excellent (except for the 6 hour option which is OK but really only suitable for recordings you don't want to keep).

You get little picture from the programme to identify each recording, this can be changed for any shot from the programme. No more winding through a tape to find the programme you want. There is videoplus for easy recording and also you can set it up so your freeview or satelite box starts the recording. You also get the option to split recordings and edit out sections you don't want. You can even download software updates from the philips website, burn them onto a CD and update you DVD recorder.

The only real negative points are that the remote control layout isn't the best (it wasn't a good idea to combine the skip and fast forward buttons). Also the recorder is a bit slow coming out of standby.

I use it nearly every day and I am very pleased with my purchase, and now only use the video if I want to record two programmes at once.
