Review: I've had this Philips DVDR80 DVD recorder now for about a month and have so far not had the recording problems of other people (fingers crossed) however the one problem that I have found is rather annoying.
I was hoping to use the Guide Plus feature on the DVD recorder as it looked like a useful tool to have, however in setting it up I found that NTL wasn't covered in the menu of Satellite and Cable suppliers. I continued with the setup and I can get a picture through the DVD OK. I then sent a email to Philips asking them what I should do.Philips replied saying, at present they do not support any cable suppliers, Bummer!! they did say that they would let me know when it is available and that I would be able to take it into a local reseller to get a firmware upgrade, but I'm not holding my breath on this one. Hope this helps, I think it worth knowing if your spending your own cash on a recorder, I also suspect that as this problem is in the DVDR80, that this problem affects the DVDR70 and 75 models in the range aswell. |
