Review: I've now had my Philips DVDR890 DVD recorder for 2 weeks, what a fine piece of equipment it is. I've recorded in excess of 30 DVD+R and 10 DVD+RW. I use the DVD recorder commercially in my business to transfer clients videos to DVD. Everyone has been impressed by the quality of its output and as yet there have been no compatability problems. All the main inputs you require are on the front and easy to get at. They include Firewire / Ilink, Svhs and Vhs as well as stereo left & right. The following isn't detailed in the manual, it creates region free disks so you can play them anywhere accross the world. For Ntsc countries you will need to provide the 890 recorder with an Ntsc signal. I've done this succesfully and sent the disks to the US for testing. No problems at all. It is very easy to use, with simple menus to follow. You can set it up to add chapter points every 5 minutes or once the disc has been recorded, but before finalizing you can add the chapters points you want manually. You can even add a picture from the disc for the Title menu. All in all a very good machine, if you need to replace your VCR, this is the way to go. |
