Review: I bought this Pure Evoke-1 radio for my father (he is 81), and it is quite stunning. It looks good, is very easy to use and sounds superb. Switch it on, and it auto-tunes. This does take a few seconds. Twist the 'Tune' knob to scroll through the stations, and then push in the knob to tune to that station. And Voila! Clear, pure radio. I had to keep on rushing into another room which had one of those ancient AM/FM radios in it to check the difference DAB makes. It was tuned to Radio 5 (I like the sport); no more crackle, whistling etc. Back to the Evoke-1; ahhhhh! Then back to ancient AM/FM radio, booo. Back to Evoke-1; Hurray! The single speaker gives very clear sound, so I see no need to get the extra speaker. If you want stereo, connect the Left/Right outputs to your HiFi. I have only three gripes with this radio: it is mains-only, the scrolling LCD display can be hard to read if you are level or above the radio, and I purchased the radio for my Father and not myself! This is one of the few items that I purchased that I would gladly pay more than double for. Thank you Mr Pure! |
