Review: Red Faction Platinum was a breakthrough game on the Sony Playstation 2 and PC in that it introduced the concept of "Geo-Mod" whereby the surrounds can be happily blasted away revealing different rooms, escape routes etc using a plethora of explosive devices. The PS2 version has nice graphics, good gameplay and some good multi-player options. The only drawback was the *lack* of Geo-Mod responsiveness in the game compared to the PC version...you are in fact limited as to what you can destroy in the PS2 version a lot, so it can kill it for me a little. Hence 4 stars and not 5. Otherwise (and that was a minor personal gripe there) it's a great game with an engaging story! Worth buying--and more so since it has gone platinum!! |
