Review: This Rugby 2004 game is an extreme improvement on the first one! The occasionial gliches have been repaired and the graphics have improved even though they are still quite low detailed. One thing that quite annoyed me the first time I played it was, when you are in a ruck, if you use the analog stick to direct which way you want to push, plus mashing circle, the player you are controlling in the defensive line will run off-side giving them the advantage. JUST PRESS CIRCLE! The passing is quite realistic, it seems to spin slightly through the air. Of course one thing that was impressive was the way players like Ian Balshaw etc, are fast aswell as strong they can barge through a few tackles. The lineouts are tricky to begin with but it just depends on the timing when you press the button/s. The scrums unlike the rucks require you to use the analog stick to direct which way you want to push as well as mashing circle. That kept me annoyed for quite a while! Johny Wilkinson as most of us know is the best kicker in the world, so why is it Stephen Jones, Frederick Michalak etc, can get it between the posts from 50ish metres away:-(. But rugby isn't just about the kicking so ignore that. The breaks players can make is great and the sidestep butoon is good also circle for hand off. Overall if you are looking for a good rugby game buy this! |
