Review: Bought this Samsung Greenwich II HD ready TV after much deliberation but the deal was finally sealed when I saw it running some high-definition demo's in PC World. Running from a PC the picture quality is incredible and everything HD is claimed to be. Once I'd got it home I realised that the sound is incredibly clear too. Unfortunately normal low-resolution TV doesn't fair as well and it is considerably more pixelated than a CRT TV, but this is the price you pay for future-proofing your home. I bought an LG HDMI-capable DVD player at the same time and this upscales your normal DVD's to high resolution and the affects are astounding. I used to like watching films at home - now I love watching films at home. This Samsung TV is simple to set up yet has plenty of options to keep the techno-junkie happy. Various colour, image quality and sound settings can be tweaked and there are intuitive menu's to access them all. The integrated freeview works well and provides a TV guide allowing you to see what is on. You can also set your favourite channels and plug in a top-up TV card. Its fine for old X-box and PS2 use, but I'd recommend turning off the dynamic contrast and brightness as things can get a bit dark!! |
