Review: This Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H1 is an all round excellent camera. I was looking to upgrade to a D-SLR but didn't have enough money so settled for this instead, and whilst it doesn't offer all the features I wanted it should be more than enough to keep me happy for now. Although extremely easy and instinctive to use it's definately worth experimenting with the manual features ie manual mode, white balance etc. You will probably need to turn the very powerful flash down indoors in certain circumstances as well as possibly adjusting the sharpness to suit! The features are fairly comprehensive the zoom range an impressive 36-420 35mm equivalent, and the lens sharp. The stabilisation works well but I would recommend a stable base, bean bag or tripod in low light at long telephoto. Focusing can be slow in low light but is generally pretty fast, though, if your a dedicated sports fan you may struggle a little. Battery life with two AA rechargeable's is pretty good, definately invest in a fast charger and 2500mah batteries though(I use energiser's which are ace!). Overall for the extremely competitive price I think you will struggle to find a better all round camera with a 12xzoom lense. 5 stars for Sony!! Ps It's worth investing in the 1.7 teleconverter which is very good and the Canon 250D close-up lense which is excellent! |
