Review: Having set out to find the best slr like camera I finally decided upon the Sony H1, why this camera you might ask. My first consideration was price. This camera is excellent value for money & amazon had the best price no matter where I searched. Next was the zoom (I sail & this was a must) 12x is excellent ,& the steady shot function gives me some leaway on a rolling deck. 5.1 megapixels is fine & though I looked at competitors with a bigger pixel count I always came back to the sony because of price & the steady shot function (which was surprisingly important as I trailed through about 1000 reviews of camera's in this class. This is a sturdy camera with an excellent range of manual functions, it can alternatively be put in an auto mode which is very good. I recommend it, but I base my recommendation on what I was looking for in a camera. If you are looking for a (1) slr like camera (2) good zoom (3)good brand identity (3) manual functions or not (4) good pixel count (A4 perfect, easily) (5) value for money/price (6) steady shot at the higher end of the zoom range (8) quality of picture - - - this then is the camera for you. BAD POINTS - there's not many - fringing on high end zoom shot next to white objects. sturdier & heavier than some competitors (which I personnally see as good point). the bad points for this camera compared to either the good points or to other camera's in this class warrant little attention. Also note: I have read over reviews stating the the camera hood reflection can be seen in flash photo's - this is only meant to be attached in bright light (sunshine) so thus not actially a problem. I don't generally like seeing commendations to the seller. I always suspec to be honest! but saying that, credit to where it due, is only fair so... Thanks must go finally to amazon for their delievery - One full week before I expected it. excellent service. |
