Review: When I first purchased this Sony DCR-HC19 camcorder, I had EXTREMELY high expectations (It's a Sony, Anyway!) and it surpassed all of those expectations. This is a professional-quality camcorder, with the same (or even better) video quality as a digital set-top box or Sky. But it is still amazingly easy to use. Also, here is a piece of consumer information. This camera is not actually a "Sony DCR-HC19 HandyCam digital camcorder." The camera that actually ships is the Sony DCR-HC19E, which is basically an updated version of the Sony DCR-HC19 camcorder, which, coincidentally, is worth more than the Sony DCR-HC19. So, you're getting a better camcorder for your money. The best updated feature, I'd say, is the fact that it records in true 16:9 widescreen format, which the Sony DCR-HC19 does not. It still includes the same old option of recording in 4:3 though. And here is another thing that is really amazing to me. This camera has night-vision, with the invisible infrared light as well! So, you can still record, even in complete, pitch-black darkness! Another convenient feature is the fact that it comes standard with a remote control, so that you can get with your family to take a picture or movie of yourself, or, maybe, confuse another user of the camera by telling it to start or stop recording, etc., while they are trying to use it. And the touch-screen is a nice feature too have, too, along with the record and zoom buttons on the screen's frame. But, you have to occasionally clean the screen to remove fingerprints. Nice lens, too. Oh, and this camera is so small! Much smaller than I thought it would be. So, all in all, the Sony DCR-HC19 camcorder is an amazing product that will definitely surpass all of your expectations. Really light, as well. Good work, Sony! |
