Review: I know another reviewer has said it about the Sony DCRHC35 Mini DV camcorder (thanks buddy) but I just wanted to back it up. This camera is NOT officially supported by Sony, and their own tech support guys and gals will say that you should buy another model. IGNORE WHAT SONY SAY. What is not supported is only the daft streaming USB function, which (as other reviewer says) us Mac users can get through freeware called Vinchi. All you need is this camera and a firewire cable, 4 pin to 6 pin. Then plug the camera into the Mac and it is instantaneously recognised by iMovie - you'll immediately see the iMovie movie window turn blue, and a button marked 'import' appears in it. Click 'import' to import.
Of course, all that would be moot if the camera was useless - quite the contrary, this is a bargain for the price. Great quality recording, very easy to use, loads of fun stuff like special effects (record in 'negative', or black and white, sepia etc), and best of all for me, an awesome nightshot mode so you can recreate all those Blair Witch moments when out camping.
Stunning camera, fully supported on a Mac, amazing price, look no further. |
