Review Summary: Great value - works with Mac too

Review: This little pixie is great value for money. If you want a basic digital camcorder you really won't do much better than this Sony DCRHC35 Mini DV.

I was a little concerned buying this because the technical spec. didn't actually state its compatability with Apple's OS X. However, using a Belkin iIEEE1394 Firewire cable I've been able to connect directly into iMovie straight out of the box.

For mac users another neat peice of free software is vidi - found at (www.mitzpettel.com/software/vidi.php). This allows you to play movies direct from the camcorder onto your mac screen - just like TV.

Camera quality is good enough for home movies. You'll get a general improvement if you invest in a tripod. I'm using it to record and review client presentations at work.

The docking station is a good solution for all the different cables. You can still connect AV out and DC in direct to the camcorder if you want to.
