Review: I've just replaced my MZ-N1 NetMD player with the Sony MZ-RH10 Hi-MD MiniDisc Walkman and have to say that the player is excellent, with the display being extremely easy to read in all light conditions and the controls are very intuitive. Pros: Excellent display, good controls, holds 34hrs of decent quality music, good looks, transfers and conversions using SonicStage 3.1 are faster than previous versions (you can upgrade the supplied 3.0 from Sony's website), 6 band graphic equalizer, unlike most other portable audio players or Sony's Hard Disk players it's also a high quality recorder, supports play by album name, artist name and group name, easy search options. Cons: Case easily scratched (keep it in the supplied soft bag), very basic non-LCD remote (an RM-MC40ELK remote is a great replacement & my MC11EL from my MZ-N1 also works fine - no folder buttons though), buttons a little on the small side, doesn't support play by genre even though SonicStage does (you can overcome this by using groups/folders as genre), only 4 preset equalizer settings available on EU region versions (you can remove the region restriction to give 100,000+ possible equalizer settings! see minidisc.org). All in all, a great player. |
