Review Summary: Fatally Flawed

Review: I bought this Sony RDRGX210S Dual compatible DVD recorder just under a week ago after seeing it's high specification in one of my local electrical retailers. However, despite a brilliant picture on DVD playback (pre-recorded), there is a fatal flaw with this machine. The flaw is RGB passthrough. If your tv only has scart sockets and you use a freeview or sky/telewest digibox then you would normally set up the recorder to use RGB for maximum picture quality. However, this machine will not pass the RGB signal from your digibox via the recorder on to your TV. The output signal is reduced to a composite level. I have contacted Sony and they say they are aware of the problem and that a fix could be available soon. Pity, I really liked the DVD playback of this machine and it has alot of good features.
